Emily Nishijima

Ms Nishijima was born and raised in Tokyo and is certified in Education. She has taught at an International school for 5 years and has experience teaching Japanese delivering the Japanese National Kokugo curriculum to Years 1-6.

She believes that in Japanese lessons, it is not a matter of just learning the language, but also the origins of the language and its culture. By interweaving culture and language, and historical background, children can learn about different cultural values and gain new perspectives.

Ms Nishijima is committed to collaborating with other teachers and subject areas to give children an opportunity for a more rounded worldview. Outside of school, she has a passion for music, she loves playing the bass and making music.
