Chie Kakuya

Since learning English at a young age, Ms Kakuya has been fascinated by the joy of learning languages and cultures. After completing a Master's degree in Japanese Applied Linguistics, she started teaching Japanese as a foreign language at junior high and high schools in Tokyo. She worked as a language assistant in Tasmania, Australia for two years before returning to Tokyo to teach Japanese.

She understands the value of language learning as a means for pupils to gain new perspectives and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the world.

Ms Kakuya enjoys playing the ukulele, going to theatres and museums, reading, learning Korean, watching sports, and hiking.
